Healthy habits for healthy hair

You wake up with a happy face this morning, you get ready. But then you notice it’s the day which you fear the most i.e. a bad hair day. It is found out that 74% of women find bad hair days to decrease their level of confidence.

To make every day a good hair day is a big challenge, as your hairs are most prone to damage, thinning, breakage and frizz. With all this stress it is a humongous task to maintain your hair healthily. Your hairs are super delicate & they should be taken care of with proper love and sensitivity. To attain your dream of healthy and shiny hair you have to follow these steps:

Brush it out Pre-Shower:-

Irrespective of the texture of your hair. Take a minute to de-strand your hair while it’s dry. Brushing your hair before a shower makes sure that all the essential oils are sent down to the tips of the hair thus providing complete nourishment to the hair.

  1. Condition under Proper Conditions:-

Use only a pea-sized drop of conditioner unless you have hair like Rapunzel. Apply the bottom down approach while applying a conditioner i.e. first apply conditioner on your ends, then to the middle shaft. Then work your way up to the scalp. Ensure that your scalp is hydrated properly. Always leave the conditioner for 60 seconds before you wash it out.

  • Heat Alert:-

As the saying goes, too much sweet is bitter or too much of a good thing can be bad for you. You might be using those straighteners and curlers for that bangs or to add extra twirls to your hair. But its usage can lead to dry, brittle hair cause breakage and split ends. Here are few tips while you use such products:-

  1. Use descriptive tools i.e. which have heat intensity adjuster.
  2. Keep your hair hydrated i.e. always wash and condition your hair before you use heat tools.
  3. Apply for protection i.e. always use keratin-based serums before you straighten or curl your hair as this serum acts as a protective barrier for your hair.
  • Cleanliness is next to Healthiness:-

Yes, you heard it right. If you want your hair to be healthy you have to make sure they are cleaned evenly. A dirty scalp can clog pores and follicles thus slowing down the growth of your hair. So make sure you have to keep your hair healthy and to be honest dirty hairs are not sanitary.

  • TRIM!! TRIM!! TRIM:-

Yes, trim yup your hair. This is counteractive to your hair growth but trimming your hair makes sure that you get rid of those dead and split ends these can cause even more damage to your hair.

  • Massage:-

A hot oil massage to your scalp can do wonders to your hair. Massaging your scalp leads to proper blood flow to your hair follicles, thus promoting hair growth.

  • Take the less heated approach:-

You had a long day, you are too tired after today’s work. You reach home only one thing comes to your mind i.e. a long distressing hot water shower. Though this is good for relaxing your mind it is stressful for your hair. Hot showers damage your scalp and wash off all the important nutrients and oils. This can make your hair look frizzy.

  • Eat healthy for healthy hair:-

If you want to keep your hair healthy from the outside you have to make sure that you keep your body healthy from the inside. Eat food rich in vitamins and proteins. E.g. eggs, soybeans, nuts, shrimps, meat etc.

Sometimes only changes in diet cannot make sure your needs for vitamins and nutrients are fulfilled so to make sure your body gets the proper amount of nutrients take supplements that provide the proper dosage of nutrients to your body.

  • Protect yourself from the sun:-

UV rays just don’t damage your skin but also your scalp. It makes your scalp dry and flaky. Use SPF mist for scalp and hats for proper protection against UV rays.

  1. Use a wide-toothed comb:-

Hairs are most prone to damage when they are wet. As mentioned earlier detangle your hair before you take a shower. Always make sure you use a wide-toothed comb as a traditional hairbrush breaks more hair whilst detangling your hair, whereas a wide-toothed comb detangles your hair and does not break much hair.

  • Use a Silk Pillowcase:-

Yes, my friend a silk pillowcase because traditional cotton pillowcases and our hair creates friction and cause frizzy hairs thus increasing the wear and tear of your hair. A silk pillowcase on the contrary makes sure your hair is healthy as minimum friction occurs between them.

These basic steps can help you to achieve the proper hair goals which you dream of.
